In early August 2021 the cabin fever got the best of us, and we embarked on a cross-country Amtrak trip. We began in Washington, DC, and made 24-hour or less stops in Chicago, Minneapolis, Sandpoint, ID, and finally Seattle. After a madcap afternoon in Seattle, we flew to stay with dear friends in Anchorage, AK. From Anchorage, we took a scenic drive to Homer, AK for a few days with plenty of moody weather and even a moose sighting to boot! Alaska may be the most effortlessly photogenic place I've ever been, so it's safe to say cramming my camera equipment into the single carry-on and backpack I had for the nearly two-week trip was worth it!
